Caroline has been engaged in technology analysis, research and consulting for 30 years and since 2002, has been focused entirely on mobile and wireless.   As co-founder and research director of Rethink Technology Research, Caroline has developed a significant research base and forecast methodology, based around deep contacts with mobile and converged operators round the world. This addresses critical issues and trends in mobile and wireless infrastructure, and particularly operator deployment intentions for 4G, 5G, small cells, Cloud-RAN and other technologies.   She is also a senior contributor to Analysys Mason's Next Generation Wireless research programme.   She has led research and consulting projects with a wide range of clients, including mobile infrastructure vendors, large and start-up operators, regulators, trade bodies, government agencies and financial institutions. Her advice and forecasts have helped inform strategic decisions at a wide range of vendors, operators, start-ups and finance houses.   Prior to setting up Rethink, Caroline held various executive positions at VNU Business Publishing BV, then Europe's largest producer of technology related B2B reports and publications. She was the European content and research director, and was a member of the leadership team for VNU's online business. She holds an MA from the University of Oxford.

NFV Based Digital Health Patient Monitoring Platform
Describing a Digital Health Patient Care Platform consisting of patient monitoring devices, patient smartphone application, cloud backend (Docker containers in multiple VMs, orchestrated with Docker Swarm) and web based clinician application. The cloud backend could utilize network functions virtualization for security and anomaly detection purposes. The platform has been hardened and tested against well-known attacks.

Mehrnoosh Monshizadeh, Research Security Specialist, Nokia

Mehrnoosh Monshizadeh has over seventeen years of experience in telecommunication industry. Last thirteen years of her carrier has been at Nokia; since 2014 she is working as a security specialist at Nokia Bell Labs research department.  Prior to this she was working in development on LTE networks. Her research interests include cloud security, mobile network security, IoT security and data analytic.  She is finalizing her PhD at Electrical School of Aalto University, Finland.

Deterministic Network, A new application for MPLS in 5G & IOT
With Deterministic network technology, any given user or application is on hardware-based resource partition with much higher assurance. While TSN/DetNet including data/control plane technology to achieve guaranteed E2E low latency and service with isolating resource as same as networking slicing, its networking application such as the management of end-to-end connection including SRP, FRER, Explicit Route, Pesudo wire, fits well into an MPLS architecture.

Mr. Henderickx provides senior level consulting on advanced IP solutions for Service provider and Enterprise customers around: Cloud Networking (SDN/NFV), Triple Play, Mobile, IOT, etc.  He has over 20 years' experience in the communications and networking industry, and is a regular speaker at technical conferences all over the world. He is active in a number of SDO's like IETF, BBF, openStack, etc.   Mr. Henderickx holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Data Communications and a Masters degree in Economy and is a Bellabs Fellow.

Extending SDN-Controlled 3GPP User Plane to Remote Points of Presence
Discussing Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture in 4G and 5G wireless networks. Describing how the user plane functions can be placed flexibly (e.g., closer to the RAN) while the control plane functions remain centralized. Presenting deployment scenarios where such services operate in their own virtual networks isolated using MPLS/BGP overlays.

Maria Napierala,
Technology Architect, AT&T

Maria Napierala is a technology and services architect in Mobile Packet Core organization at AT&T Laboratories. She is currently working on 5G Edge Cloud architecture and EPC deployment based on network function virtualization and SDN.  Previously Maria worked on WAN architecture and WAN services, including MPLS/BGP VPNs, Voice-over-Packet, QoS, Multicast, MPLS traffic engineering.   Prior to joining AT&T worked as a senior software engineer in Network Routing Systems group at IBM. Maria holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Oregon Graduate Institute, Oregon (1992). Her Ph. D. thesis is in the area of automated program generation and computational logic.

Javier Antich is an experienced Networking Industry professional with 20 years of experience. He has spent the last 12 years at Juniper Networks on different systems engineering and architect positions.  Currently he is Product Line Manager in the JUNOS team at Juniper Development and Innovation (JDI), focused on Automation, Programmability, Telemetry & Analytics.   Previous to that, he experienced the raise on the Carrier Ethernet market at Riverstone Networks. He is passionate about networking technologies, economy and Ironman triathlons.   He holds a Masters Degree on Telecommunications by the ETSIT at the Polytechnic University in Valencia, and Executive MBA at the Instituto de Empresa Business School.

Senior MPLS/Routing Expert, IP Standards and Research, Huawei

Stewart Bryant is a distinguished engineer with an international reputation for the invention, specification and standardization of new telecommunications technologies, with special focus on novel Internet technologies.   Stewart is well known for his work on, Pseudowires, IP Fast Re-route, IPFIX, MPLS-TP, and MPLS-OAM. Stewart has also contributed to the design of fast-forwarding hardware, digital television designs and the design of IEEE1588. Stewart has filed over 80 Patents and is an author of 34 RFCs.   Stewart is an MBA with outstanding technical breadth and depth in many technologies who has held a number of leadership positions in technical standards and voluntary organizations, including being a former IETF Routing Area Director.   Stewart works for the Research and Standards Group in Huawei's IP Division. In addition to his current work in the IETF work on MPLS and chairing the PALS Working Group, Stewart is working on a number of problems associated with 5G backhaul networks.

Young Lee, Technical Director, Network Architecture of SDN, Huawei USA

Young Lee is a Technical Director of SDN network architecture at Huawei Technologies USA Research Center, Plano, Texas. He is responsible for developing new technology in the area of SDN/T-SDN/NFV and driving standards in IETF and ONF. He is active in standardization of transport SDN, GMPLS, PCE in IETF and ONF and has driven Transport SDN both in industry, standardization, and ONOS ACTN project. He served a chair for Cross-Stratum Optimization (CSO) WG in ONF. He served a co-chair for IETF's ACTN BOF and a co-chair for ONF's NTDG.   Prior to joining to Huawei Technologies in 2006, he was a co-founder and a Principal Architect at Ceterus Networks (2001-2005) where he developed topology discovery protocol and control plane architecture for optical transport core product. Prior to joining to Ceterus Networks, he was Principal Technical Staff Member at AT&T/Bell Labs in Middletown/Holmdel, New Jersey (1987-2000).   He received B.A. degree in applied mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1986, M.S. degree in operations research from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, in 1987, and Ph.D. degree in decision sciences and engineering systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, in 1996.
